Susan W. Tullis, 96, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007. She was born July 31, 1910, to Wilson Eugene and Florence Althea (Anthony) Field. She was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Vine Congregational United Church of Christ, PEO Chapter BR. Survivors include: two sons, Dr. Byron (and wife, Patricia) Tullis Jr. of Lincoln and Dr. David (and wife, Sharon) Tullis of Temple, Texas; a daughter, Elizabeth (and husband, Gerald) Hansen of Fremont; grandchildren, Michael, Dr. Stephen, Jeffery, Matthew Tullis, Susan Phelps, Kyle, Jess and Seth Hansen and Katie Price; great-grandchildren, Alexis and David Phelps, Amanda, Conrad and Garret Tullis, Gabe Price, Henry, Ella, Graham and Indigo Hansen, Samuel Price, Jamie and Ryan Harrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Byron Tullis Sr., her parents and three sisters. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There is no visitation; the body was cremated. SMITHFIELD - Jenida Ann Tullis Buie, 65, formerly of Goldsboro, died Tuesday at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born in Augusta, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Cary and Dove Crook Tullis and was the widow of Thomas Edison Buie Jr. She was a registered nurse and had worked in several hospitals in North Carolina and Wisconsin. She is survived by a son, John Cary Buie of Apex; daughter, Kristina Leigh Buie of Madison, Wis.; a stepson, Thomas Swanton of Greens-boro; a stepdaughter, Diana Price of Black Mountain; and three grandchildren. TULLIS -- Anna Lou, 87, died peacefully at home in Maryland, on Monday, March 5, 2007, after a long illness. She was the fourth of seven children, born to Leo and Nina (Smith) McGivern on January 3, 1920 in Whitesboro, OK. As a young woman, Mrs. Tullis was an accomplished basketball player and dancer. She attended Oklahoma A&M (now OSU). On March 17, 1940, Anna married John W. Tullis, they had 2 daughters, Carol and Rebecca. Mrs. Tullis was a tutor for Oklahoma Public Schools, active with Girl Scouts, member of the Tulsa and Oaks Country Clubs, and was an expert bridge player for 60 years. Mrs. Tullis moved to Chevy Chase, MD, in January, 2000 to live near her daughter, Rebecca. She was preceded in death by: beloved husband, John, in 1992; and daughter, Carol, in 1996. Survivors include daughter, Rebecca and husband, Gary Stevens; sisters, Marguerite Spillman and Kathryne Schroeder; brother, Richard McGivern; grandson, Jonathan M. and wife, Jessica Stevens; along with many nieces and nephews. James Alden Tullis, 59, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at his residence in Hanceville. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Faith Restoration Church on College Drive in Hanceville. Mr. Tullis was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Celestine of Luther, Okla. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masons in Oklahoma. He donated his body to Genesis Cancer Research in Memphis, Tenn., in hope of assisting in the cure of pancreatic cancer. Born in Camden County to the late Warren Grant Anderson and Anne Belle Clark Anderson, Mrs. Tullis was a homemaker and widow of the late James Arthur Tullis. She was the oldest member of Byron Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Alice S. Tullis, 89, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Windsor, died Sunday evening, April 15, 2007, at the White Ridge Health Center in Lee's Summit. She was born Jan. 3, 1918, in Brownington, the second of eight children of James Thomas and Lena Eleanor Moree Smith. On June 20, 1939, in Clinton, she was married to Dalton Arthur Tullis, who died June 26, 1994. Mrs. Tullis graduated from Deepwater High School. She was a homemaker and devoted herself to taking care of her family. After her family was grown, she went to work as a cook in the Windsor School System in the elementary and high school. She served countless meals to hundreds of children for more than 12 years. She made a profession of faith in October 1948 and joined the First Baptist Church in Windsor. Surviving are a daughter, Carol Fritz, of Windsor; a brother, Ernest Smith, of Deepwater; two grandchildren, Bo Fritz, of Marysville, Calif., and Kelly Fritz, of Blue Springs; and five great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a son, Jim Tullis; and a son-in-law, Ray Fritz. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hadley Funeral Home in Windsor, with the Rev. Durward Scott officiating. Mrs. Altha Tullis, 82, of Freeport, Fla., went home to be with the Lord April 20, 2007 in Destin, Fla. She was born Sept. 20, 1924 in Bruce, Fla. to Charlie and Elizabeth Ward. Mrs. Tullis had been a lifelong resident of Freeport. She was Holiness by faith and a member of the New Beginnings Church in Freeport. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and always wanted everyone to have something to eat. She was known as grandma to everyone. She also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Mrs. Tullis is preceded in death by her father and mother Charlie and Elizabeth Ward, her husband James Tullis, daughter Carolyn Hayslip, son Jeff Tullis, sister Geraldine King, brothers L.C Ward, Willie Ward and Jessie Monroe Ward. TULLIS - John, Jr., of East Conemaugh Borough, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2007, at the Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. He was born in Clayton, Ala., son of John Sr. and Bertha (Baxter) Tullis. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carie Glenn, Lola Shirley, Betsy Ruffen and an infant sister, Mary; and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Banks) Tullis; children, Monica Haselrig, Fountain Valley, Calif.; Ellis, married to the former Marsha Gilmer, Alexandria, Va.; John III, married to the former Beverly Coleman, Johnstown, Deborah Harris, Johnstown; and Sandra, wife of Maurice Williams, Franklin Borough; a grandson, Eboney Tullis, who was raised by John and Elizabeth; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel, married to the former Sarah Butler, Dothan, Ala.; Charles, married to the former Sylvia Yates, Johnstown; and Winford Tullis, Johnstown, and numerous nieces and nephews and his cat, "Whiskers." John was a World War II Army veteran. He was employed for 38 years as a door machine operator at Bethlehem Steel Coke Plant. John was devoted member of the Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, East Conemaugh, where he was a deacon for 23 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his garden. John loved God and his family and will always be remembered for his smile and good nature. Coe Kella Sorensen Tullis, passed away on May 9, 2007, in Spokane, Washington. She was born March 10, 1922 in Centerfield, Utah, to David and Anna Melinda Hansen Sorensen. She grew up in Centerfield, Utah. She married Harvey Ralph Tullis on November 24, 1942 in the Centerfield Utah LDS Church. Harvey and Kella had three daughters and moved from Centerfield to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955. Harvey retired after 20 years with Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas, Nevada. After retirement they moved to Priest River, Idaho in 1975, where she lived with her husband and family in Priest River, Idaho. Kella was always canning or making quilts. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. Kella was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed very much. She is survived by her husband Harvey Ralph Tullis, who was born and raised in Hinkley, Utah. She is also survived by her three daughters, Connie Tullis, Marilyn Willis and Darlene Smith and one son David Ralph Tullis; 15 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and all of her brothers and sisters. Brothers: Kenneth, Chris, Bryan and Doren. Sisters: Lucy Whitlock, Tess Paterson and Lorena. ST. GEORGE - Mary Ethel Gardner Tullis, our sweet, loving and serving mother and grandmother will be greatly missed, but we are happy for her passing to a brighter and better place. She passed away on May 29, 2007 in Orem, UT. Mary was the 5th child of 11 to Orawell and Mary Ethel Gardner. She married Charles Lewis Tullis in 1932 and was sealed in the St. George Temple in 1975. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings, husband Charles and son Jack D. Tullis. She is survived by her other son Steven E. Tullis of Morenci, Arizona, daughter-in-law, Lenora (Dolly) Tullis Siggard of Orem, Ut., six grand children, 16 great grand children and sisters Lela Steffey, Calif. and Velma Dustin, Idaho. Carroll J. Tullis passed on to our Heavenly Father Friday, June 8, 2007, in Las Vegas. Carroll was born March 12, 1923, in Newcastle, Utah. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 357, working in Las Vegas from the 1960's to mid 80's, retiring and moving to Utah, where he enjoyed working in his garage and visiting with anyone available. He enjoyed his family and friends and always had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin. He will be missed by many. Carroll was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; and son, Allen. He leaves behind his wife, Lillian H. Tullis; son, Howard (Jackie); daughters, Kathy (Dave) Grizzle, Colette and Lisa Tullis; stepchildren, Randy, Eugene, Charlotte, Judy and Ramona; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Spilsbury Mortuary in St. George. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, with a viewing one hour prior, at the LDS Church in Newcastle, Utah. Interment in Newcastle Cemetery. Ernest H. "Earnie" Tullis, went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2007, in OKC. He was born December 18, 1931 in Leedey, OK. After High School Earnie joined the Navy, and after being honorably discharged from the military he became a barber, and married the love of his life Ann Tullis. They had two children and he continued his business "Earnie's Barber Shop" in OKC, for over 50 years. Earnie's personality and barber skills always made his clients come back for the next hair cut. He is survived by his son Richard; daughter Mary Coleman and her husband Tim; granddaughter Lauren Coleman; brother Clifford and Monita; and sister Hazel Watson. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Ann Tullis; brothers, Ralph, Raymond, Leonard, Richard, and John L. Tullis. Funeral Services will be 10AM Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with a military burial to follow.

Lora Alverta Tullis was born July 18, 1929 at the family home in Nampa, Idaho. She was the third child of Francis Elizabeth Pascoe Tullis and Orval Henry Tullis. She was a lively, fun-loving child who liked to follow her older sister Columbine around, and adored her older brother Robert and mothered her little sister Orva. Lora was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in December of 1938. She attended the Nampa Schools where she twirled baton and later led the band a Majorette during her high school years. She graduated in 1947 and went on to attend the University of Idaho as a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. During the summers, working as a telephone operator in Nampa, she met the Love of her life, Leo Hytrek. His family had moved across the street; he just returning from military service. They married June 30, 1950 in Winnemucca, Nev. Shortly thereafter they moved to Oregon where Leo became a logger. Lora delivered a baby girl, Leanne, January 31, 1951, and on August 24, 1953 welcomed a baby boy, Lonny Lee. Lora was delighted when they returned home to her family and friends in Nampa in 1954. She was blessed with another child, Lance D., September 29, 1956. That same year, on November 30, Leo and Lora were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. Lora was active in her community. As a member of the Woman's Century Club she chaired the Home Show and the Style Show, and hosted many of the meetings. She even gave adult swimming lessons at the Community Center. She took the Young Women to girls' camp every summer, and taught the youth how to ballroom dance; taking teams to dance pageants in Utah. She also established a field-work crew in the summers to provide jobs to her children and their friends. The 5-15 man crew would pick cherries and apples, hoe beets and potatoes, and detassle corn. It was one of the few summer jobs available for high school students at the time. Leo took great joy in his role as Scoutmaster for decades, but nary a merit badge was earned without Lora by his side. From retreats, to cook-outs, to first aide expeditions, she was there to lend a hand. Lora loved to travel. Whether going cruising or to the mountains, her bag was always packed and ready to go. In all her travels she loved the family reunions in the mountains the most. Lora made her first anniversary cake for her parent's 40th wedding anniversary in 1961. Her great success penned her that role for nearly every wedding and anniversary for the entire family thereafter; even late into her 70's. Like her mother, she never missed a family ballgame. Whether the event was football, basketball, soccer, wrestling, track or tiddlywinks, if a sibling, child, grandchild, niece or nephew was competing, she was in the stands; It didn't matter if was just a few miles away, or many states. Lora was known as grandma throughout the community. Her door was always open and her generosity of a hot meal or a welcome bed was well known. She was often found in the kitchen cooking for family and friends, even at two in the morning. She was happiest when family was around. Nothing was more important to her than family, as was evident to the many that crossed her threshold. Lora left this world on July 18, 2007 on her 78th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo. She will be missed terribly by her siblings Robert and Columbine Tullis and Orva Taylor; her children Leanne Turner and Lonny and Lance Hytrek; her grandchildren Shawn, Shane and Ryan Turner, Kelly, Brad, Brett and Brendan Hytrek, Kimber Hess and Krista Frahm; and her six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in the Nampa LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 121 North Canyon Street, Nampa. Interment will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd., Nampa and from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Tuesday at the church prior to services.

Wilma Nadine (Johnson) Tullis

Wilma was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on May 31, 1918, to Clarence and Elfie Johnson and passed away on Monday, July 23, 2007, at the age of 89. Wilma was a homemaker for over 70 years and her family was everything to her. She loved to crochet and knit. She crocheted baby afghans for each of her great-grandchildren. She was a life member of the Scottish Society of Central California and was a parishioner at St. James Anglican Cathedral. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Tullis; her daughter, Deanna Alcorn; and grandsons, Mark Alcorn and Jonathan Wyatt. She is survived by her daughters, Veldonna Wyatt and her husband Robert of Reedley, Ca., and Linda Atkinson and her husband Robert of North Fork, Ca.; and her sons, Jerry and Michael Tullis, both of Fresno, Ca. Wilma also leaves her sister, Eileen Frank and her husband Robert of Pittsburg, Kansas; ten grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Benjamin "Ben" Tullis, 78, died July 31, 2007, at Treasure Coast Hospices in Fort Pierce. He was born in Evergreen, Ala., and lived in Fort Pierce for 56 years, coming from Quincy. Before retirement, he was a truck driver for Rinker Materials. He was a member of First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, the deacon board, brotherhood, and male chorus. Survivors include his wife, Winnie M. Tullis of Fort Pierce; sons, Larry Tullis, Charles Tullis and Edra Tullis, all of Fort Pierce; daughters, Virginia Griffin of Tampa and Katrina Tullis of Fort Pierce; brothers, B.C. Tullis of Columbus, Ohio. Edward Tullis of Evergreen, and Alex Tullis of Miami; sister, Geneva Monroe of Fort Pierce; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Lamar Tullis, 93, of Auburn, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007. He was born in Gwinnett County and was the son of the late Harvey and Ivey Ann Bennett Tullis, and had lived in Barrow County most of his life. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living member at Bethabra Baptist Church, and was a retiree of Roper Hydraulics of Commerce. Mr. Tullis was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Snellings Tullis; and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Tullis. Survivors include children, James Tullis and Lanelle Paul, both of McDonough, Edith Culpepper, Jefferson, and Pat Knox, Acworth; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 6, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Revs. Jason Webster and Terrell Hopkins officiating. CHETOPA - Betty Lou Tullis, 86, of Chetopa died at 3:34 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at Chetopa Manor. She was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Parsons to Claude and Floy Kemmerer. She was a graduate of Parsons High School and Parsons Junior College. In earlier years, she was active in community charities and politics. She was a volunteer for many years in the mental health field and more recently at Chetopa Manor. She enjoyed singing, crafts and especially crocheting. She crafted many dolls and Christmas decorations and crocheted baby blankets to welcome newborns. She loved children and she devoted her life to caring for the needs of others. She married George R. Tullis in 1939. She lived in the Bartlett area until 1999. She was a long-time member of the W.W.W. Homemakers Extension Club, worked in many Labette County fairs and served on the Labette County Extension Service Council. She was an active member of the Bartlett United Methodist Church until she moved to Chetopa, where she later joined the First Christian Church. Survivors include a son, George W. "Billy" Tullis of Chetopa; a nephew, David E. Blackburn and his wife, Lisa, of Oklahoma City; three great-nieces and great-nephews, Kyle, Erika and Kerry; a daughter-in-law, June Tullis of Arkansas; and many other family members. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Steven E. Tullis and Donald L. Tullis; a sister, Dorothy Kemmerer Blackburn; and two brothers, Jack Kemmerer and Morris Kemmerer. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lake Creek Cemetery in rural Bartlett with Wayne Mason, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice chaplain, officiating. The casket will remain closed at the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Surrounded by her family, Marta Morrill Tullis died Sept. 21, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. She is survived by her husband, LaMond, their six children (Richard, Michael, Eric, Sharman, Jason, and Lesley), sixteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and Marta's five brothers. Marta loved the family of her birth and her own family. And she cherished her children's spouses as her own: Cindy Bandley (Richard); Susan Stevenson (Michael); Richard Gill (Sharman); Marrianne Farwell (Jason); and Nathan Shinkle (Lesley). Marta was born Oct. 28, 1937 to Martha Lamoreaux and Charles Ellis Morrill. She grew up on the family's farm in Tridell, Utah, where, as the only daughter, she learned traditional culinary arts that served her well for a lifetime. She also became an accomplished pianist. She enchanted family, friends and the public with her lilting renditions of classical and popular scores, especially her signature piece, Autumn Leaves, and her own composition, Nebo Spring. Marta graduated from Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah, where she served as student body president her senior year. Thereafter she attended Brigham Young University from which she finally graduated in 1995 with a hail of "yea Grandma" from her numerous grandchildren. Marta married Floyd LaMond Tullis March 19, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. For fifty years this couple happily placed their lives in each other's hands as they raised their six children, lived in and traveled through Latin America, Europe, and Asia, and pursued their retirement dreams at Skyefield Ranch in central Utah. Marta embraced new experiences wherever she lived, learning Spanish to handle her residency in the Peruvian highlands and mastering British English to enhance her sojourn in southern England where she and her family spent an enchanting year. Marta loved music, dancing, wildflowers, poetry, sunsets, stars, and the red earth of her ancestral home. She loved Jesus Christ, and through teaching and example imparted her testimony to her children. No sad day has been able to withstand the calming balm of her contagious smile. Her kind and generous personality are worthy of replication everywhere. Her family is deeply grateful for the gift of her life, which was so laced with empathetic, selfless service and limitless love. Funeral services are at the LDS Church in Spring City, Utah, Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. Visitation is from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial is at Skyefield in the family's private cemetery.

Violet Tullis Stowell

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Violet Tullis Stowell passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nev. at the age of 83. Violet's husband and four children were at her bedside when she died peacefully from cancer. She was born March 22, 1924 in Shiedler, Okla. to Edith Emporia Long Tullis and Albert Jesse Tullis. Violet attended and graduated high school in Russell, Kan., class of 1942, where Violet and Otsie were high school sweethearts. In 1944, Violet enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in communication, and she was stationed at Muroc Army Air Force Base, now Edwards Air Force Base in California. She was proud of her military service and the fact that two of her children also served in the military. Violet married Otsie Clark Stowell Jr. on April 19, 1945. They went on to have four children: Dr. Otsie Clark Stowell III, Albert James Stowell, Denise Stowell Wieger and Terressa Stowell Love. Violet and Otsie have seven living grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Violet is preceded in death by her parents; half brother, Albert Jesse Tullis Jr.; and her grandson, Otsie Clark Stowell IV. Violet and family moved from Rangely, Colo. to Longmont, Colo. in 1962 where her husband Otsie worked as an Air Traffic Controller. During her life, Violet started, owned and operated two businesses after working for Beach Aircraft in Boulder, Colo. while building the Apollo spacecrafts. Violet went on to assist her husband Otsie in his insurance agency before they retired from insurance in 1985 and moved from Longmont, Colo. to Austin, Texas to be closer to their son Albert and his family. Violet finally settled down at their Log Hill property in Montrose, Colo. with her husband in 1998 where she lived until her death on Oct. 7, 2007. Violet was a member of the Church of Religious Science and was a member of the Eastern Star. Violet's hobbies were many, most important to her was helping friends and loving family, painting and doing crafts with her daughters and grandchildren and traveling when able. Violet often said that visiting her grandchildren and playing with her wonderful great-grandchildren is what kept her young at heart. Violet will be missed by her two sisters, Agnes Bird and Nancy Clark and her loving family. Memorial services will be held at the Montrose Masonic Temple on Oct. 27, 2007 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made in Violet's name to the Scottish Rites Speech and Hearing Clinic in Montrose, Colo.

Lyle Vere Tullis, Ph.D.

Dr. Lyle Vere Tullis was born March 10, 1921, in Decatur, Iowa. He was the second of six children. His parents were Lorin V. and Orpha G. (Pottorff) Tullis. He passed from this life in the early morning hours of October 30, 2007, in Oklahoma City. Lyle spent his early years in Decatur, where his father was a farmer, auctioneer, and local businessman. After the untimely death of his father in 1931, the family continued to live in Decatur, where his mother supported the family as a rural mail carrier. After graduating from Decatur High School in 1938, he enrolled in the Colorado Springs Bible Training Institute, now Oklahoma Wesleyan University. While there, he met Dawn Emery, the second daughter of the school president. On February 17, 1942, they were married and in the summer of 1942, they moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma where Lyle was assigned his first pastorate. Lyle was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 12, 1942. He was trained as an antiaircraft gunner and sent to the South Pacific in April of 1943. He served in Fiji, Guadalcanal, New Guinea, and the Philippines as a canonneer and truck driver. After returning to the U.S. in November of 1945, the family moved to Owasso, Michigan where Lyle attended Owasso College, earning a Bachelor's degree in Theology, and Central Michigan University, earning a second Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. He then enrolled in Michigan State University, earning his Master's degree in Sociology in 1950. In the early 50's, Lyle was a pastor in Hermiston, Oregon. In 1955, he began teaching Social Science and Theology at his alma mater in Colorado Springs and later at an affiliated school in El Monte, California. While in California, Lyle began working on his PhD. in Sociology at the University of Southern California. In the fall of 1963, he began teaching at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, also serving as Registrar and later, Dean of the College. It was during this time that he completed his doctoral studies at Oklahoma State University. In 1972, the family moved to Yukon, Oklahoma and Lyle accepted a position teaching Sociology at Southern Nazarene University. He was to remain there as a professor and department chair until his retirement. After retirement, Lyle and Dawn traveled extensively, usually on long driving trips throughout the United States and Canada. In retirement, he also volunteered for many activities, being active in Habitat for Humanity projects, Yukon TRIAD, as a tour guide at the state capitol, and as an airport volunteer with the Travelers Aid Society. He was a very active man with a wide range of interests. He could build a shed and talk about philosophy at the same time. He was generous to a fault and believed wealth was measured in what was given away. He is survived by three sons, Ross and his wife Laura of Yukon, Oklahoma, Rex and his wife Phyllis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and K.J. and his wife Alice of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lance Tullis, Jonathan Tullis, Renee Gorny, Rhett Tullis, and Patricia Tullis; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, one brother and many, many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn; parents, Lorin and Oprha Tullis; one brother and one sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Nazarene University Lyle V. Tullis Sociology Scholarship Fund or the Lyle and Dawn Tullis Athletic Scholarship Fund. Services are at 7:00 p.m., Monday evening, November 5, 2007, at the Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene, with private interment in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Mrs. Cola Tullis, 88, of Jones Homestead, passed away Wednesday in Panama City. A native of Wausau, FL, she had been a resident of Jones Homestead for 63 years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jelp Tullis, and two grandsons, Ronald Wilson and Ricky Gomillion. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Tullis Caylor; her son, Edward Tullis and wife Doris, all of Jones Homestead; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley Williams. The graveside funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. EST Friday, November 30, 2007, at Holly Hill Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Larry Broome and the Rev. Clarence Blackman. Interment followed. Alice Bastida Tullis

Alice Bastida was born in Boise, Idaho on the first day of spring, 1925. The second of three daughters born to Regina and Juan Bastida, Alice attended St. Paul's Catholic School before graduating from Nampa High School in 1943. At graduation she was engaged to J. Robert Tullis. She attended the University of Idaho and taught elementary school in Twin Falls. Later she attended College of Idaho. Alice and Bob Tullis were married immediately upon his return from the war in Europe. During their life together in Nampa, Twin Falls, Buhl, and finally Boise, Alice and Bob raised seven children and welcomed nine grandchildren and three great-grand children. Through example, Alice imparted her values of responsibility, kindness, and respect to her children. The family, without exception, has stayed close, every Christmas coming home to Boise and each summer returning to the family cabin in McCall. Alice stayed close to her many friends, including her sisters, cousins and Nampa High classmates. She never had an ill word to say about anyone. Her humor, intelligence and, above all, her graciousness permeated everything she did. Alice Bastida was born on the first day of spring and, like spring, Alice brought beauty, warmth, and hope to everyone around her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, J. Robert Tullis; sisters Flora Jayo and Blanche Swindell; children, Dianne Tullis, Janet Colligan, Lynn Bastida Tullis, Debra Tullis, Robert Tullis, Elizabeth Tullis, and Richard Tullis; grandchildren, Nicole Pierce, Alicia, Emily, and Christopher Colligan, Thomas Tullis-Webb, Xanti and Mateo Tullis-See, Frances and Cyrus Tullis; great-grandchildren, Regina Sadie, Soren, and Zola Rose Pierce Heartman; sons-in law, daughter-in law; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at St. John's Cathedral in Boise on Friday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. A memorial gathering will follow on the Basque Block in Boise, 612 Grove St. Burial at Dry Creek Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Alice's memory may contact the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or The Basque Museum.

Lottie May (Tullis) Apperson, 91 year-old Welch resident, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Craig General Hospital in Vinita. Lottie was born September 2, 1916 in Carthage, Missouri to Frank A. and Margaret (McLean) Tullis. She graduated in 1934 from Altamont High School in Altamont, Kansas. After high school she attended Pittsburg State's Teachers College, and taught at rural schools around Bartlett, Kansas for a time. On April 24, 1938 in Miami, Oklahoma She married Loyd C. Apperson, He preceded her in death on March 27, 1984. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Welch and formerly belonged to the Plateau Home Demonstration Club. The family includes: her two daughters, Joyce George and husband Rick of Tulsa, Maureen Apperson of Vinita, a son Robert Wayne Apperson, Sr. and wife Jane of Welch, a sister Jean Chestnutt of Chetopa, three grandchildren, Angela Koscelny of O'Fallon, Missouri, Robert Wayne Apperson, Jr. of Welch, and Mark George of Wichita, Kansas. Those preceding her in death include her husband, her parents, and a brother George Tullis. Casket bearers will be; Bill Tallman, Bobby Apperson, Larry Layton, Gary Layton, Jeff Koscelny, and Mark George. Honorary bearers will be W. J. Layton and Jimmy Apperson. The funeral for Lottie May Apperson will be held Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Welch, with Reverend Bob Whitchurch officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett, Kansas. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.

D. Lavore Tullis, age 70, passed away Thurs. December 27, 2007 at his home after a courageous fight with Cancer. Lavore was born March 11, 1937 in Ogden, Utah the son of David and Eveline Tullis. Lavore was an active member of the LDS Church and loved home teaching. Lavore worked many years in the Scouting program. Lavore was a hardworking carpenter and worked with his family on numerous buildings in Salt Lake City and homes in the West Bountiful area. Lavore loved working with wood and building furniture. Dad had a creative mind and was always designing and building new things for his home. Lavore believed in spending time with his family, teaching them strong work ethics, traveling, camping and fishing together. Survived by his loving wife, Peggy East Tullis of 49 years; their six children, Julie (Mike) Sprague, CastleDale; David (Mindi) Tullis, West Bountiful; Danny (Teresa) Tullis, Oakley; Jay (Pamela) Tullis, West Bountiful; Ray (Sherri) Tullis, Kaysville; and Jeremiah (Natalie) Tullis, Syracuse; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Leon) Bitton, Pleasant View; Darlene (Rolla) Fryer, New Haven; Keith Tullis, St. George; and Dixie (Jeff) Williamson, Hurricane. Preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Caroline Cady. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Klein and staff, Vista Care Hospice and the U of U Pain Clinic. Judy Marie Tullis, 68, of Chetopa, Kansas, died at 10:42 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri. She had been in failing health. She was born September 3, 1939, in Columbus, Kansas, to Jesse and Lena (Johnston) Henson. As a young girl, she attended Fairview Country School and was a graduate of Columbus High School. She worked at Johnson's General Store in Chetopa, KS, for 17 years and also the Chetopa State Bank. She and Calvin Brady were married in 1961. They later divorced. She and John Tullis were married in 1989 at the Buckboard Restaurant in Chetopa, Kansas. She and her husband were co-owners and operators of the Buckboard Restaurant in Chetopa for 15 years before selling it in 2001. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chetopa. She loved to travel. Survivors include her husband, John Tullis of the home; five sons, Mike Brady, Welch, OK, Mike Tullis, Derby, KS, Ken Tullis, Welch, OK, Gary Tullis, Welch, OK, and Barry Tullis, Oswego, KS; one daughter, Tina Tullis, Greeley, CO; eighteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; Mother, Lena Holley, Chetopa, KS; two brothers, Ronnie Henson, and Gary Henson, both of rural Miami, OK; one sister, Debbie Clifford, Chetopa, KS. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Brady, in 1985. Funeral Mass is December 31, 2007, at the Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego, KS. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chetopa, Kansas.
