A. L. TULLIS DIES
AT THE AGE Of 85
Former Auditor, Business Man, and Deputy Sheriff
In Madison County.
A pioneer of Madison county and for many years
a prominent resident of this community, A. L. Tullis of Des Moines
died Sunday, October 14, at Dunlap, Missouri. Death came at the
home of his niece, Mrs. Walter Addison, with whom he has spent
much of his time during the past two years. He had been critically
ill for several months. He was 85 years old.
A. L. Tullis was born at West Point, Indiana,
on December 4, 1849. At the age of 8, in 1858, he moved with his
parents to Iowa, settling in Madison county, where he grew to
manhood. He engaged in business here for many years, and also
served as deputy sheriff during the terms of his father, Sheriff
J. S. Tullis, and of Sheriff Ludlow. Later he was elected auditor
of Madison county.
In 1894, Mr. Tullis moved to Des Moines, where
he lived for more than 40 years, establishing himself as a prominent
citizen of that city. Among his distinctions was a charter membership
in the Winterset chapter of the Odd Fellows lodge, of which he
was a member for 62 years.
The body was brought to Winterset, Tuesday, for burial. The funeral
was conducted Wednesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home,
in charge of the Rev. C. W. Cannom of Johnston's Federated church
of Des Moines.

of Carp. Nev.; a native of Iowa, aged 68 years, 5 months, 29 days,
Friends are invited to attend funeral services Friday, August
8, 1947, at 1:30 p. m., in the chapel of B. C. Wallace & Son,
520 North Sutter Street. Remains to be shipped Saturday morning
to Caliente, Nev.

Edith Pearl (Tullis) Huston died on August 6, 1947, and was buried
in Caliente, Nevada.
| Sigourney.- Mrs. Edward Seaba, 63, died at 10 p. m. Monday at her
home six miles southeast of Sigourney after a long illness. She was
born at Winterset, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Tullis. In 1894
she was married to Mr. Seaba and they located on a farm in Plank township
Keokuk county.
She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Oliver Utterback
of Ottumwa, Mrs. Leonard Smithhart and Mrs. Casper Klett of Sigourney
and Avis at home; two sons, Ansel and Glen at home, and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at home with the Rev.
J. B. Pritchard in charge.

Bessie Eva (Tullis) Seaba died on July 21, 1941, and was buried in
Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney, Keokuk Co, Iowa.
