Other Identified Photos from the Album (Part 3)

“Laura Smith”: This appears to be Laura E. Smith, daughter of Lydia Mintonye and her second husband, Charles S. Smith. Consequently, she was half-sister to Jennie, William, George, and Samuel Tullis. She married William Martin in 1885. She is pictured as an adult earlier in this issue.

“M. L. Smith, Sr.”: This is another photo of Martin Luther Smith, husband of Jennie Tullis. Note the inscription which indicates that he went by “Lou” (from Luther) Smith, and the inscription, obviously by Jennie, indicating “My Husband”. He is identified as “Sr” to distinguish him from his son, also named Martin L. Smith.

Back of photo of M. L. Smith, Sr.: The back of the photo of Martin Luther Smith is interesting because it appears that Jennie was practicing her writing. She identifies him again as “Mr. Lou Smith”, and adds “Spring Field, Ills”. And she identifies herself as “Jennie Tullis, Danville, Illinois”. It seems likely that the names of all the identified people in the album were recorded by Jennie.
