Mystery Photo: Cleo Tullis
Editors Note: I always watch for items with
a Tullis connection on the eBay online auction site. Recently I purchased
a photo of a Cleo Tullis on eBay in hopes of figuring out
who she was and re-uniting the photo with descendants or close relatives.
So far I have not had any success in determining who she was. According
to the information on the eBay listing, this photo was found in Watonga,
Oklahoma. The store owner said that it was one of a number of items from
the Daugherty Estate in Canton, OK. The family was originally
from Kansas, moving to Oklahoma to run a hotel in the area. A Family Bible
that was among the estate items listed surnames of Wyant, Wiekert, Stage,
Harpe, and Wertz. The photo is a cabinet card, measuring 4 1/4 by
6 1/2, and has rounded corners, which means the photo is probably
from 1870-1900, and most likely taken in the 1880s or 90s.
If anyone has any ideas about the identity of Cleo (could have been short
for Cleopatra?), please contact me (TomTullis@aol.com).
